Mathematical formula
- Total emissions:
distance × factor - Per person:
distance × factor ÷ people
Variables and parameters
- Distance (distance): default value 300 miles.
- Emissions factor (factor): default value 0.404 kg CO2/mi.
- People sharing (people): default value 2.
Some formulas are undefined for certain input combinations (such as division by zero or logarithms of non-positive numbers). In those cases the live tool displays an alert instead of NaN.
